Use Chiropractic and Fitness to Arm Yourself
By Sandy Schroeder
If you find yourself running out of gas as you lug laundry, groceries and work totes, your arms may need some new workouts. We all walk, run, and bike to help our legs and core, but our arms may need their own exercises.
Put Chiropractic to Work
Your local chiropractor can help you get your arms in shape. The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you staffs a wellness center with licensed chiropractors who are well equipped to help.
When you come in your chiropractor will help you put together the fitness routines that work for you. You will find out how a healthy spine can lead to improved overall health. The spine keeps us mobile day after day. The central nervous system housed inside provides the brain-to-body communications that we all need. When we strengthen the spine, everything just gets better. We still have energy at the end of the day, and we get up ready to tackle the next day.
A gentle targeted adjustment may ease joint or muscle pain and create an overall sense of well-being. Benefits are unique to each person. You may feel more energetic, less stressed and more alert. Or you may experience improved digestion and metabolism. As you evaluate benefits, you may want to use weekly 15-minute spinal adjustments as you try out new arm workouts like this one. Your chiropractor can help you get started and monitor your progress to avoid glitches.
I have watched many friends and co-workers discover the many benefits of chiropractic, and then reach out to their families to include them too. Here's a sample of the fitness routines that you might wind up using.
20-Minute Arm Workout
To strengthen your arms, use 3- to 5-pound dumbbells and exercise a couple times a week. Target the chest, back of arms, and shoulders.
- Lie flat on your back with knees bent, feet planted
- Hold a dumbbell in each hand
- Lift weights straight up from the chest
- Align wrists with shoulders
- Bend your elbows 90 degrees
- Bring arms down to the floor
- Then press weights back up engaging the core
This routine will make all of your daily lifts easier as you push open doors, hoist bags and packages, and tote everything you need from home to work and back.
As always, work with your doctor and your chiropractor before you begin new exercises.
