3 Ways to Get Fit This Summer
By Genevieve Cunningham
Staying fit through the summer should definitely be a goal. Not only do we want to look good in our swimsuits, but good health is important all year long! Of course, with the heat and the carefree attitude that summer brings, getting fit can be a challenge. Luckily, there are things you can do to boost motivation. If you're ready to focus on fitness this summer, take a look at these three ways to get you moving in the right direction.
Sign Up for a 5K
There's something about running a race that makes the actual process of running so much easier. If you like to run (or jog or even walk fast!), go ahead and sign up for a race. This will force you to train, which will undoubtedly get you in better shape. Find a 5K that is for a cause you support, sign up and pay before you change your mind, and then have a little fun training and getting ready for the big day. You don't have to win! Just enjoy the process and the better health will come.
Go Swimming
Summer is a great time to go swimming. And luckily, swimming is an incredible workout. It works every muscle in your body and truly improves your stamina as well. If you like seasonal activities, swimming is an excellent choice. Find a local pool, create a schedule, and you'll be in better shape by the summer's end.
Camp and Hike
Summer is a great time to get out in nature. If you want to get fit and healthy this summer, go camping and hiking with friends and family. This gets you out in nature -- which is good for your mental health. And it also forces you to be active -- which can help you burn calories and build muscles. And of course, it's so much fun! You'll be gaining health and making memories for the best summer and health yet.
Anytime is the right time to improve your health. If you're ready now, then use these summer activities to get the job done. The most important part is to stick with it, so choose something you enjoy, get some support, and work tirelessly toward better health for yourself and your family this summer.
