3 Great Exercises for the Absolute Beginner

When it comes to fitness, everyone has to start somewhere. Even if you’ve never worked out a day in your life, exercise is something that you can and should do on a regular basis. But for beginners, it can be a really intimidating process. What should you do? What should you avoid? If you’re new to the fitness game, don’t fret. Just take a look at these exercises that are great for beginners, and get started down a healthier path in no time at all.

Walking

Almost everyone can get up and walk. You don’t need anything except a good pair of shoes, and you can do it just about anywhere. If you’re a true newbie to movement, go slowly. A very slow stroll around the block or at the park is a great way to get started. If you’re a bit more advanced, choose a hiking trail or an incline. Walking will slowly build muscle, work out stiffness, improve flexibility, and improve cardiovascular health. It’s great for beginners, and can be maintained for a lifetime of health.

Water Workouts

The great thing about the water is the buoyancy. That weightless feeling that you get when you submerge yourself in water is especially good for people with aches and pains, especially in the joints. Water workouts are definitely tough due to the increased resistance, but they also provide a safe and painless way to exercise. Swim, do water aerobics, or just tread. Just get in the pool, get moving, and enjoy.

Yoga

You don’t have to be an experienced yogi to practice yoga. In fact, everyone was a beginner at one point! Yoga allows you to strengthen and elongate the muscles, deepen flexibility, and develop personal self-discipline. Join a class for beginners, and use the modifications if needed. This is a practice that you can do as a beginner, as an experienced fitness pro, or anywhere in the middle of these two extremes.

Whether you’re a beginner or a fitness fanatic, there’s a place for you in the world of health and wellness. Don’t be intimidated just because you’re not a pro. Just make sure that your workouts are catered to your abilities. With a little patience and persistence, you’ll be on the road to better health in no time at all.
